When Sculptures Come Alive: Living Botanical Sculpture with Peter Sun @ Arion Press

Arion Press is proud to announce Peter Sun, a sculptor of large-scale living botanical art, as the second speaker in the 2026 Craft Talk Series

Please join us for Peter Sun's presentation and performance of living botanical sculpture as the second installment of the 2026 Craft Talk Series!

Ever imagined a sculpture could be alive? Across the evening, sculptor Peter Sun will build a living botanical sculpture onstage — pausing between gestures to discuss his origins, the story of his artistic journey, his work with Arion, and more. The talk and the making braid together: a few minutes of story, then a turn to the piece, then back again, until a final gesture completes it. The audience meanders through these stories with Peter as a living sculpture becomes itself in front of them.

Doors open at 6 PM at the Bayfront Theater on the third floor of Fort Mason Building B.

The talk will be 45 minutes followed by a 15 minute Q&A. A reception will follow in the Arion Press Gallery.

Peter Sun is a San Francisco–based artist who creates living botanical sculptures, re-choreographing botanicals into intentional forms that are of nature, yet above nature. His work has appeared at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco City Hall, Fort Mason, and the SF Decorator Showcase, and explores presence, time, and the body in a technologically mediated world. Most recently he is exploring robotics onstage to co-create alongside him, reimagining the boundary between installation and performative art — and technology's role in the creative process itself.
