Sculpture Hike at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program
Djerassi Program will host a guided sculpture hike across our 583-acre property in the Santa Cruz Mountains, offering San Francisco Art Week visitors a rare chance to experience an iconic site for land-based and site-responsive art. For 43 years, the Djerassi Resident Artists Program has welcomed more than 2,700 artists, many of whom have contributed permanent and ephemeral works that now live throughout the landscape.

Led by Creative Director Mushi Wooseong James, this hike introduces participants to the history and legacy of Djerassi as well as the unique ecological setting that has shaped generations of artistic practice. As guests move through forests and trails, they will encounter sculptures and installations created by resident artists and learn about the processes, ideas, and stories behind these works.

The experience underscores Djerassi’s core mission: providing artists with time, space, and a profoundly inspiring natural environment in which creative work can flourish. The hike concludes with a casual gathering at the Artist Barn, offering space for reflection and conversation among artists, collectors, curators, and the broader SF Art Week community.

This event serves as an immersive introduction to the residency’s legacy and its enduring influence on the Bay Area’s cultural landscape - a grounding, contemplative moment amidst the energetic pace of SF Art Week.

RSVP: Please email Natasha Noel, Communications Lead, at nnoel@djerassi.org
Capacity: Limited to 25 hikers.
A confirmation email will be sent upon RSVP, followed by detailed directions to the Djerassi Resident Artists Program closer to the event date.
