Josh Kline presents a series of his films that address current social and political challenges such as climate change, labor inequality, and the erosion of democracy. Films include Applebee's Waitress Interview, 2016-2018, Universal Early Retirement (spots #1 & #2), 2016, Kurts & Whitneys ("non-fictional" interviews with the extras), 2013, and Personal Responsibility: Mercedes & Vitali, 2023. He is joined by Wattis Director and Chief Curator Daisy Nam after the screening to moderate a conversation with the audience.
Josh Kline works in installation, video, sculpture, and photography to examine how emergent technologies are reshaping human life in the 21st century. He has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally, with recent highlights including a solo show at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (2024), the 24th Biennale of Sydney and the 8th Yokohama Triennale (2024). In 2023, the Whitney Museum of American Art presented the largest survey of his work in the U.S.
Josh Kline was featured in The Wattis Institute’s recent exhibition 8 Hours of Work and will also be included in their forthcoming exhibtion 8 Hours of What You Will.
