Performance: Dresher Davel Invented Instruments Duo @ Hosfelt Gallery

Paul Dresher and Joel Davel will present a special program by the Dresher Davel Invented Instrument Duo at Hosfelt Gallery.

Using their extraordinary hand-built instruments—including the Quadrachord and the Hurdy Grande—they will create a unique and immersive musical experience unlike any other.

This one-night-only event supports the Dresher Ensemble Artist Residency (DEAR), which each year provides six early-career artists with studio space, professional production resources, mentorship, and a $1,500 stipend to help bring bold new work to life.

Attendance begins with a suggested donation of $35, and guests are invited to contribute at higher levels to further support DEAR and the next generation of adventurous artists.

Experience an unforgettable performance while helping sustain a program that gives emerging artists the time, space, and support they need to create.

5-6 PM :: The evening begins with a reception and gallery viewing, offering guests the opportunity to mingle and enjoy the exhibition in the inspiring setting of Hosfelt Gallery. Wine, beer, water, and a selection of savory and sweet finger foods will be served.

6-7 PM :: The highlight of the evening will be a performance by the Dresher Davel Invented Instrument Duo, featuring composer and instrument inventor Paul Dresher and percussionist/electronic musician Joel Davel. Performing on Dresher’s extraordinary invented instruments and Davel’s innovative electronic and percussion setup, the duo creates immersive sound worlds that blur the boundaries between music, sculpture, and performance.

Proceeds from this event help sustain the Dresher Ensemble Artist Residency (DEAR), providing early-career Bay Area performing artists with free access to studio space, technical resources, and professional mentorship needed to create bold new work.
