OH THE FUNNY THINGS YOU DO!, is a video work by Bay Area artist Lemia Bodden, a commentary on different events and actions, past and present, that happen within the USA and within foreign countries under the United States' governmental influence and decisionmaking. The video work is assembled with news clips of different atrocities that the USA has been a part of (My Lai Massacre, Jan 6th, War in Gaza, George Floyd, Mass shootings, Philadelphia bombing in 1985, Epstein Files, ICE raids, War in Iran, Asian hate, etc.), each clip pixelated to obscure the true horrors of the acts recorded.This obfuscation invities the viewer to interpret what they are seeing, a mirror to how American citizens have to dig deeper to find the unbiased truth in our media. With the advancement of AI and Deepfakes, online viewing audiences are now asked to work harder, discern, and and uncover the information we receive from our news, social media, and media outlets.
