LOOK WEST Gallery announces its fall highlight, KRISTIN TEXEIRA: CHOICE / CHANCE, All the things I was thinking while I watched the light change on Mount Tamalpais opening November 22, 2025 in partnership with The Jaunt. The exhibition features new oil paintings by New York based artist Kristin Texeira, whose work transforms color and memory into poetic visual cartographies. This marks Texeira’s first major Bay Area solo exhibition.

Texeira’s vibrant abstractions evoke the feeling of walking through memory itself. Each painting translates personal recollection into shape, texture, and hue — offering visitors an experience that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant. For CHOICE / CHANCE, Texeira has shifted her focus to portraits of Mount Tamalpais and text from her time living on the SS Vallejo in Sausalito during her Varda Artist Residency. According to Kristin, ‘It has been ten years since my introduction to Mount Tamalpais. Though I no longer stay on Jean Varda’s old houseboat, I still find my way back to the mountain. This exhibition reflects the time I’ve spent watching the light shift across Mount Tamalpais, accompanied by excerpts from the journals I kept while living on that gently swaying boat.’

Kristin will be in Marin, painting the mountain, the week prior to her exhibition for a traveling artist residency with The Jaunt. ‘We are honored to bring Kristin’s work to LOOK WEST and share her pictorial love letter to Mount Tamalpais with Marin,’ says gallery founder, Travis Weller. ‘Kristin documents moments through color by mixing up the poetics of people and places, an approach that speaks to our mission of connecting emotional storytelling with contemporary art.’
