Jason Francisco in Conversation with Poet Alexander Nemerov @ SF Camerawork

A book signing and discussion celebrating Jason Francisco’s Autobiography of an Unknown American, published by Fall Line Press.

Join artist and writer Jason Francisco for a book signing and discussion of his recently published book, Autobiography of an Unknown American, published by Fall Line Press.

Combining contemplative large-format photographs made across the United States between 2014 and 2022 and poems by Alexander Nemerov, Autobiography of an Unknown American explores the complexities of American life, memory, and collective history.

The book brings together photography, poetry, and personal reflection to consider the traces of history embedded in the American landscape and the lives that shape it. The publication concludes with a lyrical essay by Francisco reflecting on the origins and intentions of the project.

Join us for a conversation about the book’s overall themes and image sequence, followed by a reading of several of the poems Alex wrote in response to the photographs, and then an open conversation between Alex, Jason, and the audience. The event will also include a book signing.
