Traywick Contemporary is pleased to present Here & Now, our winter rotation that brings together new and recent work by gallery artists and long-time collaborators, presenting a snapshot of shared ideas, materials, and evolving practices.
At the center of the exhibition is a selection from Diana Guerrero-Maciá’s celebrated series Strange Forest, whose richly layered textile abstractions expand the language of painting through the tactile and narrative possibilities of fiber-based materials. Built from reclaimed fabrics, hand-dyed cloth, and found imagery, these “unpainted pictures” blur distinctions between narrative and composition, domestic labor and modernist art practices.
In dialogue with her work, Here & Now features pieces by gallery artists Amy Kaufman, Amanda Marchand, Benicia Gantner, Rae Davis, Samantha Fields, and Steuart Pittman, along with works from gallery friends Amy Nathan, Joe Ferriso, Leah Sobsey, and Mel Davis. Collectively, the works explore material and meaning, reflecting on where we have been, what continues, and what is newly emerging.
