  • SHACK15 1 Ferry Building San Francisco, CA, 94111 United States (map)

A SHACK15 Artist Fellow in Conversation

Join us at SHACK15 for the first of seven inaugural SHACK15 Artist Fellow activations with artist Joanna Keane Lopez. Her practice is rooted in the earthen craft traditions of the American Southwest, drawing on adobe-based material research to explore how land, memory, and vernacular architecture are shaped by histories of use, and shadowed by military occupation of land. Lopez will share insights into her artistic journey, the significance of adobe and natural materials in her work, and how place, community, and environment shape her creative process.

Guests will also be invited to participate in an interactive materials experience featuring adobe bricks, molds, and tools from Lopez’s practice, offering a rare, tactile window into the textures, techniques, and sensorial qualities of her work.

Run of Show

6:00 PM — Doors open, cash bar service & music
6:15 PM — Artist presentation and conversation
6:45 PM — Brief Q&A and closing remarks
7:00 PM — Interactive materials experience & networking
