Artist Talk: Kate Rusek on Desert Fungal Emergence @ diRosa (Online via Zoom)
Join artist Kate Rusek for a moderated online conversation about Desert Fungal Emergence, her newly installed large-scale sculpture at di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art.
Constructed from reclaimed aluminum window blinds and suspended between two lakeside trees, Desert Fungal Emergence explores themes of regeneration, interdependence, and environmental stewardship. Inspired by fungal networks and ecological edge zones, the work invites visitors to consider how natural and human-made systems are interconnected. Throughout the conversation, Rusek will discuss her artistic practice, her process of sourcing and transforming discarded materials, and the role of abstraction in encouraging personal interpretation and curiosity.
Participants will gain insight into the sculpture's installation at di Rosa and the environmental thinking that informs Rusek's work.
This program is free and open to the public. Registration is required, and a Zoom link will be shared with all registered participants prior to the event. Donations are appreciated and help support artist talks, educational programming, and public engagement opportunities at di Rosa.
