Art at Ideas Salon: Collective Authorship @ Discourse

RSVP Here

Hosted by Art for Civil Discourse

This edition of the Ideas Salon brings together four artists with distinct approaches to moving image to build one evolving work in real time. Each artist receives the piece midstream, transforms it through their own medium and philosophy, and passes it forward. Along the way, the audience helps shape key decisions, making the final work a record of process, relation, and collective authorship.

Come watch artists lean into the friction, confusion, turbulence, and beauty of collaboration in an exploration of human creativity. This is a live, multi-disciplinary relay race of creation: four artists, four wildly different processes, one evolving piece of media passed hand to hand and transformed in public. images are sculpted from analog hardware, analog hardware feeds a 3D environment, and on and on, each creator exposing their workflow, philosophy, and creative fingerprints in real time.

At a moment when AI companies promise a frictionless, hyper-optimized creative ecosystem where a simple swipe can generate anything you can imagine, this salon asks what gets lost when process disappears from view. The art is the process: the handoff between artists, the visible transformation of the work, and the decisions made in public. That distinction matters more than ever when the dominant technologies are a black box that hides how anything gets made. This is a space for participation, improvisation, visible transformation, and the strange beauty of building something together.

Organized by Goosim, a collaborative artist collective, this salon brings together artists whose practices span new media, immersive environments, analog installation, audio visual performance, writing, and creative technology.
