Hosted at YBCA, the Anti-Fascist Zine Fair will be a gathering of the underground press from the Bay Area and beyond.
Organized by long-time print organizer Floyd Tangeman and artist Barry McGee as part of Bay Area Then, this all-day event will feature tables from independent publishers, radical newspapers, print collectives, and local comics studios, including Street Salad Books, Slingshot Collective, Silver Sprocket Comics, and Barry McGee Studio.
In the words of the organizers, the event is a “reminder that print media does in fact serve as the ultimate key for liberation” and “the Print object stands as the epitomal symbol against dogma.”
The fair is one of many events nationwide taking place under the umbrella of Fall of Freedom, a collaborative, artist-led initiative co-founded by visual artist Dread Scott. The initiative mobilizes artists and cultural institutions in defense of democracy, free expression, and collective freedom.
YBCA is pleased to participate in the Fall of Freedom and support the Anti-Fascist Zine Fair, as part of our mission to support artists, arts communities, and free expression.
Participants include:
