COL Gallery is pleased to announce 7x7, a new exhibition presented in collaboration with the Clayroom.

Wildlife, architecture, monuments, and history—7x7 is a celebration of all things San Francisco. Bay Area artists were invited to create ceramic works reflecting what the city means to them, with one constraint: each piece must fit within 7” x 7” x 7”. The title nods to San Francisco’s distinctive size—seven miles by seven miles.

The works on view capture the city’s beauty as well as its imperfections: the usual and the unusual, the metaphorical and the real, the collective and the deeply personal. Whether you’ve lived here for decades or are visiting for the first time, we hope you’ll find something familiar among these pieces.

Clayroom is pleased to share that this year’s juror is Sarah Duyer, a San Francisco–based ceramic artist, illustrator, and zine maker. Duyer’s functional ceramics draw inspiration from the textures and architectural lines of the city, creating geometric forms with playful design elements. Each piece is thrown, carved, and decorated by hand at Fog City Ceramics in the Mission District.
