Project Space: Aleksandra Walaszek & Sam Stevens @ Headlands Center for the Arts

The practices of Aleksandra Walaszek & Sam Stevens converge through an engagement with peripheral spaces, and guest-host relationships. Working across installation, found objects, archives, and site-specific interventions they examine how objects, and infrastructures shape access and social behaviour.

With their project at Headlands they will search for signs of control in the landscape, and the ways that society engages with it. They will use the poetic potential of analogue photography to explore the subjectivity of record keeping. Through dialogue with the community at Marin Headlands, the duo confronts terms such as invasive and native with their open archive; telling speculative stories, tracing histories, and imagining alternative futures.

 Project Space is on the third floor of Building 944 and is currently accessible only by stairs.
