Linda Christensen: Quiet Recognition @ Andrea Schwartz Gallery
Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce the second exhibition with Linda Christensen.
“I am drawn to the figure and to capturing physical expression in all types of situations, especially when they are alone.” – Linda Christensen
Linda Christensen’s latest body of work depicts figures set within expansive shorelines and open vistas. While grounded in recognizable settings, Christensen’s paintings move beyond direct representation, using the figure and environment to explore observation, composition, and the subtle dynamics of human presence. Her works often focus on quiet, unguarded moments, capturing gestures and postures that reveal the complexity of everyday experience.
Christensen’s process is shaped by a lifelong practice of close observation and an intuitive approach to painting. Color plays a central role in her work, with layered palettes and carefully considered relationships between tones guiding the overall composition. Beginning with abstract shapes and developing organically, her paintings prioritize visual balance and atmosphere, resulting in works that feel both immediate and deeply considered.
