Francesca Anfossi @ Blunk Space

Blunk Space is pleased to present a short-run exhibition of new work by London-based artist Francesca Anfossi inspired by time spent living and working at the Blunk House in Inverness. Originally trained as a painter, Anfossi's multidisciplinary practice spans ceramics, furniture, sculpture, and community-based projects. For this exhibition, she created a collection of functional ceramics alongside furniture and sculptural works in wood and clay. Using locally salvaged wood in the spirit of JB Blunk, Anfossi combines his two signature materials into one-of-a-kind objects that resonate with the architectural character of the Blunk House.

Anfossi's collection of ceramics brings a playful, iterative spirit to the exhibition. Delicate pea pod spoons teeter on the edge of utility, while wonky egg baskets cradle their contents with irregular curves. The silhouettes of Blunk's stools reappear in miniature on plates, platters take their names from plants growing in the Blunk House garden, and vases draw inspiration from the ikebana vessels Blunk made while living in Japan.

Together, the works evoke an eccentric dinner party, transforming the gallery into a welcoming table where sculpture and utility meet. Throughout the exhibition, Anfossi celebrates the rituals of cooking, gathering, and sharing, bringing her generous approach to making into conversation with JB Blunk's enduring belief that art belongs in everyday life.
